Facial Prosthetics are made by individuals trained in ocularistry, anaplastology or
maxillofacial prosthodontics who medically help rehabilitate those suffering from facial
defects caused by disease (mostly progressed forms of skin cancer, and head and
neck cancer), trauma (outer ear trauma, eye trauma) or birth defects (microtia,
anophthalmia). Facial prostheses are typically made of flexible rubber called silicone.
They are designed to cover, protect, and disguise any disfigured or underdeveloped
area of the face.  Facial prostheses are held in place by adhesives, osseointegrated
implants, magnets, or strapping system connected to glasses. Prostheses are
designed to have similar form and function of the natural anatomy.

The professionals listed on Facial Prosthetics International make facial prosthetics, and
possibly other services.  Please understand that those across the world providing facial
prosthetics may call themselves anaplastolgists, craniofacial prosthetists, facial
prosthetists, maxillofacial prosthetists, maxillofacial prosthodontists, prosthetists,
ocularists, ophthalmologists, otorhinolaryngologists (ENT's), and so on.
